Ron was always there for me.
An Aussie in New Jersey living at Lonni’s – he rescued me many times via coffee and chats.
A remarkably generous and intelligent person, Ron was an incredible presence on Bentley Road.
I was so fortunate to have my Australian Family & Friends meet and spend time with him.
My Father loved Ron too!
Ron’s legacy is profound as he offered his wisdom, compassion, and intelligence to all around him: including my wife, Laurel; her brother Mitchell and the Bentley Road Family in general.
Thank you, Ron, for being the pipe smoking coffee drinking tractor driving crazy uncle that the world needed and needs.
Rest in Peace

Growing up down the street from the Auths was a true learning experience. I was fortunate to have Rachel as a good friend from a very young age. It brings a smile to my face to think of two very different older couples who decided to become friends due to both having young daughters around the same age. My father and Ron both worked at RCA in different divisions but shared an interest in electronics and technology. This shared passion and their young daughters brought our families together, and as the years passed, we began sharing holidays and becoming more like family.
When my father passed away, Ron became a regular at our house whenever something needed fixing, especially our ride-on lawn mower, which he somehow brought back to life too many times to count. Ron’s pleasant and stable energy was a constant in my life. His consistent tinkering and interest in sharing what he was working on was always a treat when spending time at the Auths'. From exploring his workshop to learning about some rare find he rescued from a flea market, it was always a fascinating experience. I specifically remember Ron working tirelessly with me to help create a wind-up light for a science project. It was remarkable the time and energy he spent guiding me to understand and build that little light-up device. His efforts made a lasting impact, and I now share my understanding of how light circuits work with both my children and my students.
My mother Lonni and Ron’s wife Susan were as different as could be, but this unlikely pairing brought about some fabulous memories. Whether it was celebrating Thanksgiving or Passover at Susan and Ron’s, with all the specific plates, cutlery, and traditional songs for each course and occasion, or Christmas at our house with a medley of my mother’s eccentric companions, Ron’s "mmhmms" around the table were a constant reminder that we were in for some hilarious moments and unforgettable anecdotes.
Ron was such a presence on Bentley Road, always riding his tractor with his pipe in his mouth and a friendly smile. It’s hard to imagine the street without Ron there at the wheel of his tractor. He was the kind of neighbor anyone would love to have. He looked out for everyone he knew and lent a helping hand whenever he could. Ron will surely be missed, but his acts of kindness and neighborliness will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to grow up around him.

So sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. We were neighbors for 40 years and he was always there to lend a hand if needed. He was truly a whiz with electronics and machinery. Rest in peace Ron……
