Obituary of Doris Ann Marsh
Doris A. Marsh, 80, of Montville Township, NJ died on March 21, 2024. She was born in Perth Amboy in 1943 to Melvin and Helen Christensen of Metuchen. Doris graduated from Metuchen High School in 1961. She married J. Lloyd Marsh in May 1962. They moved to Montville Township in 1979 and she remained in the same home until her death.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, who passed away in May 2004, and her beloved dachshund, Victoria, in 2008. Doris is survived by her daughter, Sharon, and her granddaughter, Mags.
Doris loved being a stay-at-home mom to Sharon. She volunteered at school events including Sharon's elementary school GS Brownie troop. Doris made the holidays happy memories, including painting ceramics for Christmas decorations and making chocolate chip cookies for Santa (a tradition now passed down to her daughter and granddaughter). At Easter time the basket always included a special chocolate rabbit from Nagel's Candy Barn, and hand-sewn Halloween costumes were extra special (Sharon's favorite was Princess Leia, of course).
In addition to the love Doris shared with her daughter and granddaughter, she also shared her life with a number of pets, including Freddie and Rosie. This passion grew by volunteering at local animal shelters. Doris’ happy place from springtime to the fall was on her deck at Otter Lake Camp Resort. She enjoyed going to Bingo with her friends, making crafts, and peace by the lake.
Doris will be remembered for being a strong woman and a very proud mother and grandmother. Sharon will miss talking to her mom about all the important and little things in life and showing her pictures from trips and events. Mags learned from an early age at the lake to take the little path to Grandma's site to have chicken nuggets, purple popsicles, and hugs. Doris’ memory will live on in the hearts of all the people who loved her. She'll be watching over Sharon and Mags during future milestones of life, including graduations and weddings, and all the happy moments to come.
