Obituary of Timothy James Sullivan, III
Timothy James Sullivan, III passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 2, 2023, in Boonton, NJ.
He was born in Kansas City, MO in 1952 to the late Timothy James Sullivan, Jr., and Charlotte (Scott) Sullivan. Tim is survived by his sister, Patrice M. Sullivan (Craig Miller); his brother, Dennis C. Sullivan (Renee Cicerchi); his nephews, A. Michael Bary, M. Rick Bary, and Daniel Sperl; his niece, Megan Legge; and his sister-in-law, Dotti Sullivan. He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas K. Sullivan and Joseph B. Sullivan.
Tim and his family moved to NJ in 1955 and they lived in Whippany for nine years, where he attended Our Lady of Mercy School. The family then moved to Montville, NJ in 1965 where his father remained until 2004. Tim graduated from Boonton High in 1970 and attended the University of Nebraska for two years before being drafted into the U.S. Army, serving primarily in Anchorage, Alaska.
Tim was a painting contractor who worked in Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Maine before returning to NJ and settling in Boonton for the last twenty years. He traveled extensively in his youth, visiting all 50 states in the U.S. In retirement, Tim was an avid billiards player on a team that competed in Las Vegas. He also enjoyed spending time at the Boonton Elks Lodge. Lending his skills in maintaining the lodge was his retirement project. Tim was honored to be named Elk of the Year in 2020. He loved to read, and it showed, as he was the one called upon to write the eulogies for family members. They were truly poetic. Tim was a quiet man who left a great impact on those who knew and loved him.
Please join the family on Saturday, June 24, 2023 for a memorial service from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, Boonton. The Boonton Elks Lodge #1405 will be honoring Tim at 1:00pm and their ceremony will be followed by Words of Remembrance from his family and friends.
Interment will be private in Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate donations to the Patricia Clare Sullivan Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund at Mercy College of Health Sciences or the charity of your choice.
