Obituary of George Joseph Spohn
George Joseph Spohn of Succasunna, formerly of Kearny, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022. He was 87.
George was born in Newark, NJ to Emil and Margaret (Flanagan) Spohn in 1934. He graduated from Seton Hall University with a bachelor’s degree. He was the owner of Home-Aire Refrigeration of Kearny. George moved to Parsippany briefly before relocating to Little Egg Harbor and then to Succasunna this past year.
George was a passionate fan of the NY Yankees, NY Giants and the NJ Devils. He loved playing golf and taking trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas, particularly with his daughter. George was an avid supporter of the FDU-Florham Women’s Soccer team.
Predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife, Jean (LaVista), George is survived by his daughter, Kristin Giotta and her husband, David of Succasunna; his grandchildren, Lyda Jean Giotta and Kalvin Maddox Giotta; his sister, Barbara Canning; his brother, Walter Spohn; and many relatives and friends.
Please join the family for visitation on Wednesday, April 20th from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm at Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Mountain Lakes on Thursday, April 21st at 10:00am. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
