I read about Synnove's death in the Star Ledger. I am so sorry for your loss. She sounds like she was an amazing and courageous woman. Death of a loved one can be very distressing even if the person is elderly or sick. I would like to share the Bible's hope for those who have died and an encouragement for those who have lost a loved one. The Bible teaches us that death was not part of God's original plan. He wanted man to live forever on a paradise earth. Man disobeyed God and brought about sin and death to the human race. God's plan will still be realized. Isaiah 55:11 states, "So my word that goes out of my mouth will be. It will not return to me without results. It will certainly accomplish whatever is my delight. It will have sure success in what I send it to do." The Bible talks about a resurrection of those who have died. (Acts 24:15, John 5:28, 29) The word resurrection in the Bible literally means "a standing up again" and "revival of the dead". The provision for resurrection of the dead is a magnificent expression of God's undeserved kindness. It displays his wisdom and power and is a means by which his original purpose regarding the earth and humans will be carried out. If you would like to know more about what the Bible teaches, please visit JW.org. Sincerely, Paula

The family on mother's side posted a condolence

Dear Cy, Christine and Eric,
We have received the sad news that our dear Synnove has passed away. We are seventeen cousins, two aunts and one uncle of Synnove belonging to the Aartun family on her mother's side in Norway.
«Synnove in America» will be deeply missed by each and one of us: her lively voice, her caring for everyone and her strong presence, even living so geographically apart from us in Norway.
Synnove was the first child of Liv and Per, she was the first of many grandchildren of Louise and Olav, she was the first niece so beloved by mother Liv's three sisters and three brothers, and she was the eldest cousin looked up to and respected by all her younger cousins.
Synnove kept contact regularly with her distant family in Norway by frequent phone calls, long letters and nice e-mails. She visited Norway almost annually since she first moved to America back in 1963, even in most years after she got seriously ill. We all have a lot of good memories from lovely days with Synnove, either gathered in her parents’ home in Egersund, in her cabin at Hellvik, at different relative's homes in Norway, in New York City or in her nice home in New Jersey.
A contribution in memory of Synnove has been made to the American Cancer Society from us in Norway.
Uncle Sigurd, aunt Marit, aunt Aud, and cousins Ole Christian, Sjur, Rune, Åsne, Olav, Tormod, Liv, Marit, Ingvald, Kristin, Hilde, Birte, Brynjulv, Nora, Herluf, Olav and Norunn.

Thank you all so much for such a beautiful and true description of her character and life. She valued all of you so much, and was very thankful to be able to keep so close to you over the years. The final “hurrah” in September 2018 was especially amazing; and she talked often of how much that meant to be with so many of you. Thank you from all of us for your generous contribution in her honor to the American Cancer Society.
