Obituary of Barbara R. Roderick
Barbara R. Roderick, formerly of Mt. Arlington, NJ and North Bellmore, NY, returned to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 23, 2020 after a bitter battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was surrounded by loving family at the time of her passing.
Barbara was born in Manhattan, NY, to Rudolph and Hedwig Rock and was raised in the Bronx, where she married the love of her life and partner in adventure, Rev. Roy Roderick. Together, Barbara and Roy raised their family in North Bellmore, NY. Barbara earned an Associate Degree from Nassau Community College and worked as a legal secretary in several law firms on Long Island. Barbara and Roy later moved to CT for a short time and then retired in Mt. Arlington, NJ.
Barbara loved the arts, music and playing the piano. As a Pastor's wife, she was active in Roy's parishes and in retirement at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Succasunna, NJ as well as St. Luke's in New York, NY. She was a loving mother, instilling in her children a strong work ethic and a deep compassion for others.
Surviving Barbara are her beloved husband Roy, her devoted children, Andrew Roderick and his wife, Dawn, and Anne Lesko and her husband, Robert, loving brother, Ronald Rock and his wife, Kathryn, niece Jen Dobkowski and her husband James, and cherished grandchildren, Zachary, Caitlin and Thomas Lesko and Jakob, Ryan and Lauren Roderick.
The family will gather with relatives and friends at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ for visitation on Sunday, January 26th from 2-5 pm. The service with music (which Barbara would love) will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 203 Eyland Ave., Succasunna, NJ on Monday, January 27th at 10:00 am.
