I remember Bob from way back when as a law clerk in the Bergen County Courthouse. As a court reporter I remember his smile when he came into the courtroom and always a friendly hello. We would sit and reminisce about the "good old days." You were truly a good man. Sincerest sympathy to your family

I am convinced that you are resting comfortably in the arms of our Lord. Its was truly a blessing that our paths crossed all those years ago on the Bayhead School soccer field. I consider it an honor to have called you 'friend'. What a stellar, fun-filled dad you were to all three of your children. You will be deeply missed. Kimberly Bell

I worked with Bob "M" in the A&P so long ago. He was such a nice guy and funny. We were a close group that worked there...meeting at the Essex pub after the store closed. Not to mention the Christmas party where Bob got up and sang a song or the picnic/softball games that we had. Good times with good people. I recently ran into Bob at an event and discussed those A&P days and the people we still see. We had a good laugh. Bob "M", you surely will be missed. My prayers go out to the family. Rest in peace Bob M.

I had the privilege of becoming a friend of Monte's through rugby, either as a teammate on a tournament team or as an adversary during one of our epic Monmouth/Montclair matches. He will be missed by all who new him. Always a gentleman on and off the pitch. My deepest sympathy to his family, especially his children. A great guy and an even greater father.

What a shock! I had the privilege of knowing Monte through many years of rugby whether he was a teammate on a tournament team or an adversary when Montclair played Monmouth in one of our epic matches. He became a good friend and he will be missed by all of us who knew him. My deepest sympathy to his family, especially his children. A great guy and an even greater dad.

Everyone who knew him knows what a good guy Monte has always been. I met him in grade school and played baseball with him in Hackensack. Haven't seen him much over the years but caught up with him a few years back and his winning personality hadn't changed. Guys like him are what this life should be about. The world will be a lesser place without him. RIP Monte.

I was shocked to pick up the paper and read about Monte's passing.
Bob was good firend and teammate on Montclair RFC and I always enjoyed speaking with him on the sidelines after reffing MOntclair matches. No matter what the result was and how "blame" the ref had to do with the outcome, Bob was always gracious and we always had a great time chatting.
Next time I ref Montclair and look to the sidelines after, I will feel a deep sense of loss to see he won;t be there.
RIP "Monte"

Dear Mrs. Montecallo, Susan, Jim, and especially Robert, Allison and Jaclyn: I knew Monte since we were freshman at Montclair State. In the last forty years, or so, I had the great pleasure of being and speaking with him, often. Many times we spoke about little things, the Jets, the Mets and the Yankees. Many times we spoke about our children, what they were doing, how high school and then college were going. He was a proud Dad and devoted, and I for one marveled at how he managed to do everything a father could (and should) do. And he did it. Many times I asked for his advice. He was my “Consigliere” of whom I’d ask “What would the Mont man do?” But, no matter what we talked about, what I’ll remember most about Monte was how he made me laugh. I loved him and will miss him every day, and am grateful for the privilege of being able to call him my friend. Choosing the right words at a time like this is difficult, but to sum your son, your brother, your father up; he was the best, in all ways, and my heartfelt and deepest condolences go out to you.
