Obituary of Edith Metz

Edith Metz, of Towaco, NJ, passed away on October 25, 2013, after a short illness. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 28th at 11AM, at the Montville United Methodist Church, 29 Whitehall Rd.,Towaco, NJ 07082. Relatives and friends may visit on Sunday, October 27th from 3-6PM at Cody-Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave, Boonton, NJ. Edith was born and raised in Towaco, NJ. She graduated from Boonton High School in 1946. After high school, Ms. Metz worked at her father's hardware store until 1972, when she took a job as a salesperson for Sterns in the Willowbrook Mall, where she worked until her retirement in 2000. Ms. Metz never married or had children, but she helped raise and loved her sisters' children as if they were her own. She was a member of the Montville United Methodist Church for 70 years. Edith enjoyed collecting butterfly decorations, making crafts, sewing, cooking, and baking. She was also an avid gardener, caring for numerous flowers, plants, and vegetables. Daughter of the late Clarence and Marion L. (nee Jacobus) Metz, Edith is also predeceased by her sister, Evelyn Kovarik. Ms. Metz is survived by her sister Marion D. Bauermann, her nieces and nephews, Roy Kovarik and wife Karen, Linda Kovarik-Glatt and husband Victor, Karen Kocher and husband Frank, Karl Bauermann, Janice Smith and husband Wayne, Lisa Riley and husband Randy, as well as seven grand nieces and nephews.
