Obituary of Robert Paul Smith

Robert Paul Smith Sr. Robert Paul Smith Sr., formerly of Palmer, PA, passed away in Boonton, NJ on Monday, July 1, 2013. He was 82 years old. Robert was born in Newark, NJ and lived in PA for many years. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from the Newark College of Engineering. He also proudly served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War. Mr. Smith was a Design Engineer with the American Can Company. He worked in many locations across the country, retiring from their location in Washington, NJ. An accomplished mechanical engineer, he had numerous patents including a basic patent for the design of equipment that manufactures Crest Toothpaste Tubes. He was a member of the Mechanical and Plastic Engineers Associations, and the Knights of Columbus. He was also an accomplished carpenter, plumber, electrician, auto mechanic, photographer and musician. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Margaret (Masterson), and brother John Smith. Surviving are his children Robert P. Smith, Jr., James Smith and Kathleen Gartland; Loving sister Jeanne Hudak; 7 cherished grandchildren and one adored great grandchild.
