Winifred "Winnie" Knechtel , formerly of Montville, NJ, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Arden Courts, Whippany, NJ. She was 87 years old.
Mrs. Knechtel was born in Manhattan and grew up on Staten Island. In 1962 she moved to Montville, NJ, where she resided for 40 years.
Winnie was a salesperson at B. Altman & Co. in Manhattan and later in Short Hills, NJ for many years before her retirement in 1985. She also volunteered at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville and the hospital Thrift Store, Castaways in Boonton.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth, in 2003.
Surviving are her devoted children Robert Knechtel, Diane Current, Lynda Brush and Jean Gulledge; also 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation in the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ on Thursday, March 7th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Interment will be private. For online condolences or information please visit www.mackeyfh.com.
