Looking at the obituary reminded me of the fact that Bill was not only an avid fly fisherman. The fact was that he could have been a Director of fly fishing in any school in the world. He was that knowledgable of his hobby and craft. He always helped or gave you information to make you a better fisherman. I haven't met a bigger conservationalist or person that cared about his craft more than bill. If he wasn't catching anything that day the fish in that area weren't feeding.

I will miss Bill very much. I had known Bill through my father and had the pleasure of fly fishing with Bill in New York and Ohio for trout, steelhead and salmon. I thank him for his generous time showing me some fishing tactics and to help me pick on my dad. My fondest memory of Bill is his repeating advice to my father: "Monte, you need to get your son a bamboo fly rod."

Bill was always a great friend and we have many happy memories of days spent vacationing in VA and hunting and snowshoeing in PA. He will be missed.....
