Obituary of Alice Simms

BOONTON TOWNSHIP---Alice Simms (nee Talford) died Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover following a long illness. She was 90. Born in Great Falls, South Carolina, she had lived in Boonton Township for the past 63 years. Mrs. Simms was a self-employed domestic for over 60 years before retiring in 2003. Alice was a longtime active member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, the Missionary Board and as financial secretary of the building fund. She was also a member of the Ecumenical Council of Boonton. Her husband, William E., died in 1974. She was also predeceased by her son, William Spencer Simms in 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn S. Aiken and her husband Leroy of Morristown; two cherished grandchildren, William Spencer Simms, Jr. and Towanda Michelle Mobley and three beloved great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31st at 11:00 A.M. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Boonton Township with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 7-9 PM only at the Mackey Funeral Home ( www.mackeyfh.com), 107 Essex Ave., Boonton.
