As a neighbor and contemporary of Mitch, I remember Mr. Ryzuk for being the "cool" Dad who had painted our swimming pool with adult themed images. Nothing too outlandish, but for a 3rd and 4th grader, he was amazing!
My love goes out to the family.

For the artist opens his heart, lays his soul bare, and enshrines it in his work, which, like a flower, draws receptive hearts to nurture it as their own and give it fresh abode.

REST IN PEACE, UNCLE ONY
Father and Grandfather

“Look down there. “

“That's not my father. That's just my reflection. “
Rafiki:
“No, look harder.
You see?
He lives in you.”

Juliet:
Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow,
That I shall say good night till it be morrow.
Romeo:
Sleep dwell upon thine eyes, peace in thy breast!
Would I were sleep and peace, so sweet to rest!
Hence will I to my ghostly sire's close cell,
His help to crave, and my dear hap to tell.

Mr. Ryzuk was my childhood friend Regan's father. We were neighbors. I would go to the Ryzuk's home and play ping pong in this very cool slate floor room which was surrounded by paintings which amazed me.
We would listen to Iron Butterfly, the Doors, and Jimi Hendrix, Question Mark, a specific always requested song - "Those Were The Days My
Friends" while surrounded by Mr. Ryzuk's paintings which for me captured the psychedelic feeling of those days. These paintings exuded energy, light, color, sensuality, and a creative spirit which I had never been exposed to until then.
Through the years I interacted with Mr. Ryzuk, he would always give me more credit than I deserved. And he was very generous to me - he unexpectedly gave me a book one day called "Crisis In Credibility" which I showed my parent's and my mother was a librarian and she was quite impressed.
Then Mr. Ryzuk gave me a gift which will always remain within me as one of the most inspirational things I ever received. For many years there was a painting in the ping pong room that I became obsessed with. I would look at it often and out of all of the many surreal paintings in this huge L-shaped room - this one which was of a woman holding her knee along with provocative and imaginative imagery was for me, the one. Over a period of time Mr. Ryzuk recognized my devotion to this work and one memorable day he presented to me. I had this painting hanging in my college dorm for four years and it always inspired me and many others.
I am grateful that I knew Mr. Ryzuk because whenever I was around him I felt greatness and a sense of good fortune.
I would like to express my deepest feelings to Mrs. Ryzuk, Regan and Mitchell. Your husband and father was and will always be an inspiration to me.
