Obituary of John E. Scott

PARSIPPANY-John Edgar Scott was born on December 10, 1926 in Newark, New Jersey to John and Kathryn Scott. John passed on at his home in Lake Intervale, NJ on November 10, 2011, one month short of his 85th birthday. He served in the U.S. Navy twice, entering in March of 1945 to July of 1946, and then again from November of 1950 until March 1953. For a time he was stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, which was fodder for many stories of his Naval exploits. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute graduating with an Engineering Management degree in January 1951. He thrived in the burgeoning semiconductor and electronics business well before it was fashionable and ran a successful business, TMA in Parsippany for nearly 40 years. John was a larger than life character, with an appetite for travel, food, conversation, politics, football (especially the New York Giants) and had an ever inquisitive mind. He loved maps, gadgets and tools of all kinds. John loved walking around the lake, acting as the unofficial greeter of Lake Intervale. Since 1996, he was a member of the St. Clare VIP Cardiac Rehab program where he made many dear friends. John was also a member of The Community Church of Mountain Lakes. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Suzanne (nee Gay) and by his children Richard and wife Susan, Lisa, Jennifer Randock and husband Steve, John, daughter-in-law Jessie and his grandson Trevor. His daughter Laura, his son Robert and first wife Doris preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at The Community Church of Mountain Lakes, 48 Briarcliff Rd., Mountain Lakes, NJ 07046 at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 18, 2011. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to The Community Church of Mountain Lakes. Envelopes will be available at church.
